I finally took the time to clean and rearrange my bookshelf again. It was tiring, and my back hurt, but at least now i know all the books i own. I made a list of all the books before shelving them again, based on the genre that i think they're a part of. I revised my 'book rules' when i saw just how many i owned that i haven't read (way too many). I'm kind of embarrassed by how far i've let it come. For staters, ever since i found out that book box sales were a thing 3 years ago, i've already been to 4, and most of those books are unfortunately still sitting unread in my bookshelf. I've only managed to find a few gems, but most of the books that i've bought seem to no longer hold appeal to me. One of the aforementioned gems that i found was the book 'The Good Son', which was such an enticing read. There was gore, but not too much, and just enough bodily sensation to make me a character rather than a reader, a ghost in his walls maybe. The last time that i went to one of these events, i finally managed to get my hands on the second and third books of His Dark Materials - The Subtle Knife, and The Amber Spyglass - by Phillip Pullman, books that i'd read in 6th grade, and been trying to get my hands on ever since, as well as buying as many Michael Morpurgo books as i could fit in the box (11, i think).

My rules now include:

1. I can only buy one (individual book) for every five books that i read.

2. I can only go to my next book box fair when i'm done with all the Michael Morpurgo books i own already.

3. The next time that i go to a book box fair, i will be buying only books that i've already been looking for, Michael Morpurgo books, and coffee table books.

4. Applicable only to this time, since i bought a book i've been looking for for a while after finishing only one individual book, i need to read 9 books before i can buy another one.

5. I have to sell or discard of those books that i have no intention of reading, or that i've started reading and that don't suit my taste in the least. I also made a list for those books that don't immediately look like something i would read, but that i'm willing to give a chance.

6. I should avoid leaving books unfinished as much as possible, and attempt to be in the middle of only 2 - 3 books at a time to prevent me from leaving them unfinished.

I know that it's all well and good of me to make a list of rules that i'd like to follow in order to get my reading to the standard that i want it to be, but i'm also trying to make sure that i know that reading is a fun hobby and not an obligation. As much as reading would help me consume information at the rate at which i feel ideally full or satisfied, i also know that not every minute doing something else, maybe something pointless even, needs to be replaced with me reading. That is not my intention. I'm only trying to enjoy myself responsibly. And also maybe put a pause to this 'collecting' activity that i've thrown myself into. I've only finished 36%of the books in my bookshelf, so now the goal is to be done with at least 60%. I won't be home for much longer, since i'll be off to college again soon, so i want to read as much as i can before i leave, since i can't carry my entire bookshelf with me to another state. I may be getting a little more desperate to finish much more than i can, but at least it's keeping me going towards the goals that are still in hand. Anyways, it's time to get back to my latest chance book.

Snuggled up in my cozy reading nook, Raccoon.
